Promotion of Public Health Careers – A website and promotional materials were developed to better inform youth and adults about careers in public health and link those individuals to career opportunities within the local health departments in Eastern North Carolina.  Information is shared at high school and college career fairs, within health departments, and in the communities.  A link to the “Careers2MakeADifference” website is below:

Internships – The NENCPPH has offered many internship opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students through the years.  More recently an effort has been made to offer regional internship opportunities to not only provide the intern with the chance to gain professional experience and valuable insight into the local public health sector, but also have the unique opportunity to be exposed to different health departments and a variety of programs and structures.

Peer Networks – in addition to the Health Directors quarterly NENCPPH meetings and monthly leadership calls, the NENCPPH has offered a number of opportunities for other cadres of health department staff to come together as peer networks to learn from one another.  Peer networks have included human resources, care management, billing/finance, health education, HIPAA, and data, and substance misuse.
